Performance

The core component of the Eureka NES215A is the 17-kPa suction motor. To put it into perspective, most full-sized, corded vacuums on the market offer ab kPa motors.

With this sort of power, the NES215A can clean up bare floors like hardwood, vinyl, and tile with relative ease. You can use it to take care of ordinary dust and dirt. Debris like cat litter, cereal, bread, and chip crumbs aren’t challenging for the vacuum to pick up, either.

Eureka NES215A Performance

Because the vacuum is meant to be compact, Eureka didn’t build much in the way of “acoustic shieldings” for this vacuum. As a result, the NES215A can be very noisy.

Its floor head boasts a wide cleaning path, measuring about 9 ½ inches. Vacuuming will be considerably quicker and more efficient since you’ll be able to work through a room in only a couple of passes.

The problem with the NES215A lies in carpeting and rugs. Because it doesn’t have a brush roll, it cannot comb through carpet piling and pick out all of the dirty scraps within.

Fortunately, while it certainly cannot deep clean your carpeting, it can pick up superficial dirt on the surface in a couple of passes. Also, without a brush roll that could get tangled up, it’s particularly effective against pet hair.

Therefore, if you have wall-to-wall carpeting in your home, the NES215A wouldn’t be a good choice. On the other hand, if you have primarily bare floors, it’s a decent bargain.

Design

Among the many selling points of the NES215A is the incredibly lightweight design. When fully assembled, the vacuum weighs around 4 pounds

When converted into its handheld form, that weight reduces to a light 1 pound; manageable for anyone.

Speaking of convertibility, Eureka marketed the NES215A as a “3-in-1” with three convertible forms

Its first (and primary) form is a stick vacuum. The second and third forms are a little more complicated. In both modes, the vacuum takes on the form of a handheld unit. The difference lies in the accessories: you can plug in the accompanying crevice tool or use the standard floor head. Using the NES215A with the crevice tool makes it particularly effective at cleaning corners, while the standard floor head would make it an ideal stair-cleaning vacuum.

The NES215A is a corded vacuum and has an 18-foot power cord. This is quite short compared to the industry average of 20 feet, so the cleaning range you get is a bit more limited.

Maneuverability is handled by gliding wheels and a swivel steering mechanism. The wheels are non-marring, so they won’t damage delicate floor types such as hardwood. The swivel steering mechanism allows you to maneuver the vacuum more accurately, though it may take a while to get used to if you have never used it before.

Dust Cup & Filtration

The NES215A has a small 0.49-dry quarts dust cup. Capacity is decent considering the overall compact size of the vacuum. While it won’t be large enough to handle the entirety of a large house, it will be adequate for cleaning single rooms or small apartments.

The emptying process is simple. Just detach the cup from the motor and pour all of the dirty contents into the trash can. Unfortunately, the design of the dust cup makes it very easy for dirt and debris to get stuck inside. Many people have reported having to reach their hands inside and manually dislodge dirty scraps. This could potentially be dangerous if you have allergies or compromised health.

For filtering, the NES215A has a washable mesh filter. It doesn’t have the near-absolute filtering efficiency of a HEPA filter, but it can still handle common dust, pet hair, and other debris acceptably.

At least once a month (or when the vacuum’s suction drops due to the filter being clogged), wash the filter with cold water. Make sure it’s completely dried before putting it back into the vacuum. Though many consumers have reported the filter is durable enough to be reused indefinitely, we recommend changing once every quarter (3 months). Replacement filters can be found in packs of 2 to 3.

There’s a caveat to the filtering system. Though we’ve mentioned before how the NES215A has good suction against pet hair, its basic filter has prevented it from becoming a full-fledged pet vacuum— it can’t handle the parasites or serious disease-causing bacteria that may come with pet hair.

Therefore, we recommend you think it through carefully before using the NES215A as a pet hair vacuum. Sure, most of the risks can be eliminated by making sure that all of your pets have good hygiene, but you’d still be taking on some.

Accessories & Warranty

The vacuum only comes with two pieces of accessories. Normally, this would’ve been a flaw, but considering the price of the vacuum, the small selection is understandable.

NameDescription
Crevice ToolExtends the reach of the vacuum and makes it easier to clean out corners and awkward spaces.
Standard Floor HeadStandard suction floor head. Ideal for normal floor and stair cleaning.

Eureka also provides a holder for the crevice tool for easier and more convenient storage.

The Eureka NES215A comes with a one-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects and labor.

Conclusion

For the price, the Eureka NES215A is an outright steal. If you’re budget-minded, its excellent balance between cost, design, and performance will put you at ease.

Concluding this Eureka NES215A Blaze 3-in-1 Swivel Handheld & Stick Vacuum Cleaner review, we hope you now have enough information to make an informed purchasing decision!
